Level of Math [poll]

Postby SpikedMath » Thu Feb 10, 2011 4:20 pm

Testing out this so called "poll" feature that I see on one of the tabs.
Math - It's in you to give.

Add an option for "I'm from the forums of that popular webcomic about the Liberal Arts."

Once I figure out how to edit the poll I will... lol

Edit: Okay I figured it out, but it erased all the results!

I guessed that Level 1=Freshman Math Major, 2=Sophomore (or Associate degree), and 3=Junior (Major) or Math Minor, and 4=Senior/BA in Math.

Freshman Physics/Astronomy here!
Id say that my math is good, but I'm on a maths forum, so I'm probably the dumb guy xD

Very confusing. I assumed levels referred to years at University. I have an associates in an unrelated field but am basically a freshman in math, so I went with Level 1. I'm almost to the boss though.

You could always pick "I study math on the side for fun"

How does CS B.A. (with a quite fair amount of theory) translate to this?

Interesting how many of us are undergraduates. This forum could be useful...

I take it that no one wants to help with my graduate level real analysis, then? :P

I'd love to help, but I probably won't really be of much use xD

I'd help, but a friend pointed out (accurately) that there are three kinds of mathematicians: those who can count, and those who can't. (Guess which category I fall into!)

There's also 10 kinds of people, the ones who know binary and the ones who don't.

I ended up dropping that course after I found out how much the prof sucked and most of the class bombed her midterm

I'm more of a discrete type of guy.

If you combined them, you'd get 11 kinds of people: those who can count in binary and those who don't.

I took two semesters of analysis as an undergrad, and if I could finish my program without graduate analysis, I would. Discrete is fun, and I really like algebra, but I am not looking forward to analysis in the fall.
