Postby aryobarzan » Fri Feb 11, 2011 4:09 pm

Hi everyone!
My name is Amir and I'm a geek! (This is the best adjective to describe me!) , I'm 16 (By Iranian Solar Jalali Calendar) and 15 (by Gregorian Calendar) -- soon they will become the same.
I love math and I never felt like hating it, even when i got bad marks.
I'm a high school last year student in Iran.
I'm also a programming nerd (geek, etc.) and I've already won my silver medal in INOI (Iranian national Olympiad in informatics)
SpikedMath is my favorite website and also my current homepage!

 Ah! I just forgot to say that "Dorud" (The title) is a Persian word meaning something like "Hello" or "Peace"

Thanks. I was just reading the previous post about you. I'm learning German and I love it. It's much better than French at least :D
And I love the fact that it is so much like my own native language.

Viel Spaß
(Sorry for possible errors, I'm a beginner)

Just one more thing: My username
"Aryobarzan" is the name of an ancient Persian/Iranian Commander who is also known as a national symbol of resistance and power. ;)

Well , The name of Language is Persian , we call it "Parsi" locally. In some languages and sometimes in English , our language is referred to as "Farsi"
It's an Indo-European language and has some 100 million speakers mostly in middle east and a large population in the U.S. (most of them are Iranian diaspora)
Iranian languages consists of a set of similar languages including "Persian","Azeri","Kurdish","Pahlavani" , "Lurish" and "Hindi"(!) with some 120 millions of speakers outside India and some 2e9 speakers in India.(All those languages have the same scripting system)
German is so much like Persian, It's so easy for us to learn . Our teacher always said that when you don't know how to say something in German , say the exact Persian form with German pronunciation and you'll be understood :D
We don't need to learn vocabulary for German at least, Most of German words are used in the exact same way in Persian :D
And nobody really knows which language was the root of these words. People in Iran use terms like "ist" for 7 thousand years :!:

P.S.: sorry for such a long thing!
