Suggestions Welcome

Postby xwhy » Sat Feb 12, 2011 8:16 pm

If you didn't see on the Introduce Yourself thread, I'm Chris Burke, math teacher from Brooklyn, and I started the comic "(x, why?)" a few years ago. It started on blogger and moved to comic genesis, but I kept the blogger site anyway.

If anyone has any suggestions for either site (not for new comics), please post there here.
Yes, I have things that I'd love to do, and have been on my to-do list, should I find the time -- and know how to accomplish them. There's also a wiki that I've forgotten about because it's been so long.
And thanks for stopping by the pages.

Chris

Well my first suggestion would be to get your own domain. As hosting sites like that are limited, etc.
Next to that, maybe a comment section?
I have a physics/science/tech/general nerd forum, take a look if you want :P

I teach in a high school -- though it seems that I'm not always teaching at a high school level, if you know what I mean. I usually have classes in Algebra, and sometimes Probability and Statistics (which is actually a rehash/review/reinforcement of the stuff from Algebra, and not the stuff found past chapter 2 in any statistics book).

The website's history goes like this: the blogger site started as a suggestion in a grad school class, as did a geocities web page that I had before that.
The students rarely used it and blogger was eventually blocked on the school's computers.
I started making cartoons for my own sake, but I did use some images on worksheets. More teachers (and relatives) found them amusing than students. Anyway, I started putting stuff on Comic Genesis where it could be seen.

Around the time Google bought blogger, it became unblocked.

At this point, I do own the old Geocities page, which is now http://www.mrburkemath.net, but I'm trying to use that for parents and students. Who knows, if that doesn't work out, maybe I'll move over there.
