I don't think there is a working distinction that is recognized all over the world. I for my part see Geek as a compliment, and a positive or neutral description and Nerd has a bot of a negative connotation, while Dork definitely is used as a pejorative term.

But as I said, that is just my view of things. Obviously it all also depends on who says it to whom.

Let's make a formal definition for 'geek' and 'nerd'
In your (Iran's) cause, When do our lives have value?
May the soil of our motherland be eternal.

What about dork? :P

Also, as someone who spent a few years studying linguistics in the dark ages of my undergraduate degree, I am disinclined to attempt to formally define the various terms. People tend to use language in the way that they use them. It would be much more useful to try to understand how people use the words, rather than force them to use them in the way that we want them too.

Not sure if I agree with this, but here's a venn diagram that makes clear distinctions: http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z167/Great_WhiteSnark/Nerd_Dork_Geek_Venn_Diagram.jpg
