Just to nitpick: the first flowchart is self-similar, but it doesn't make it a fractal. Fractals have Hausdorff dimension greater than their topological dimension. This flowchart has the same Hausdorff dimension as any other flowchart.
Tu put it differently: fractals have self-similar details around all of their points, not just one (in this sense, Mandelbrot Set is not a fractal -- but its border is).
